Radio Redhill goes online
Radio Redhill, the local radio station based at East Surrey Hospital, went online from the start of July, marking 10 years since its first AM broadcasts.
The radio station, which was set up to broadcast to patients and staff within the Hospital, is now available tot he wider world via its website, at www.radioredhill.co.uk.
Station engineer Ian Wilson said:
“Online is a high quality way for patients on the ward to listen with mobile phones, or staff and patients’ relatives to listen at home on their computer or internet radio.
“The stereo sound available is something that just isn’t possible with the ward headsets or with 1431AM.”

“Online is a high quality way for patients on the ward to listen with mobile phones…” – Oh yes, very good idea for patients at East Surrey Hospital to be using their mobile phones to listen to local radio. Not only does it bore them to death, but by having a cellular phone against their ear is surely putting them at higher risk of brain cancer, dna damage and may even affect male fertility.
Computer/Internet Radio will suffice?
I was quoting the Radio Redhill engineer – I am sure he knows best!
